The post NIA – Thai-Chinese Culture and Economy Association” appeared first on ThaiResidents.com - Thai Local News - Thai News.

The National Innovation Agency (Public Organization) (NIA), under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), collaborates with the Thai-Chinese Culture and Economy Association (TCCEA) to strengthen innovation and business relations between Thailand and the People’s Republic of China. This is achieved through the integration of innovation networks, startups, entrepreneurs, and business owners, linking with Chinese partners through ‘The Dragon’ programme. Designed to deepen Thai entrepreneurs’ understanding of Chinese business practices and culture, this initiative aims to foster enduring relationships and promote mutual innovation between the two nations, ultimately driving sustainable business ecosystems and generating numerous benefits for both countries in the future.

Dr Krithpaka Boonfueng, Executive Director of the National Innovation Agency (Public Organisation), stated that despite the various challenges facing the Chinese economy, the GDP growth rate for the year 2023 expanded by 5.2%, in line with the government’s target of 5%. This instils confidence globally in China’s growth prospects, driven by factors such as domestic economic dependency, exports, technological development, research, and innovation. Additionally, China’s status as the world’s second-largest economy after the United States, along with its position as the number-one purchasing power, underscores its significance as a major market for exports, including those from Thailand.

“According to the results of the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2023, which ranks the People’s Republic of China at 12th out of 132 countries worldwide, China’s innovation output ranks 8th, and innovation input ranks 25th globally. It is also classified as a leading cluster in the field of science and technology. There is a significant amount of investment and scientists in the country, along with science parks and innovation hubs that contribute to the country’s economic growth. Moreover, in the past year, China has announced goals to become a global innovation leader and drive consumption through high-tech innovations, including increasing research and skilled personnel to elevate new industries. These clear advantages present opportunities for Thailand to introduce consumer-demanded innovations in China, as well as to learn essential skills as a leading innovator in the global innovation landscape.”

Dr Krithpaka further commented that NIA recognises the importance and opportunities in establishing innovation partnerships with China. Therefore, it has joined forces with the Thai-Chinese Culture and Economy Association, a network of innovators, startups, and entrepreneurs, to connect with Chinese counterparts through ‘The Dragon’ programme. This initiative aims to promote innovation businesses between Thailand and China, focusing on fostering international trade and promoting national-level innovation. Additionally, it helps Thai innovation business owners to immerse themselves in the Chinese business culture, building sustainable relationships that can drive their businesses forward. It creates a network of leading Thai-Chinese innovation business figures and fosters mutually beneficial cooperation for both countries in the future. Furthermore, it facilitates understanding of market data, competitors, and customers in China, provides guidance on local partnerships, Chinese laws, and helps identify opportunities for innovative businesses seeking growth abroad.

“While China may have policies towards self-sufficiency in terms of technology, the analysis of ongoing opportunities for Thai products to continue exporting or marketing in China lies in several categories. These include agricultural and processed agricultural products, ready-to-eat foods, health and beauty products, and OTOP goods. These are items that China still cannot produce sufficiently. However, these products should undergo product and packaging design tailored to the varying consumer behaviours of the Chinese population in different regions. Additionally, they should utilise innovation to avoid imitation and adapt to a competitive market driven by technology and creative thinking. In terms of high-level innovative products with market potential in China, they include innovations that are part of the high-end industrial production chain, such as the electrical and electronic appliance industry, computer components, integrated circuits used in automobiles, and the production of tyres for electric vehicles.”

Assoc Prof Dr Bhokin Bhalakula, President of Thai-Chinese Culture and Economy Association (TCCEA), stated that the association aims to develop the relationship between Thailand and China through continuous creative activities since its establishment in 1993. It is guided by a vision that emphasises cooperation for regional peace and stability, as well as promoting high-level relations. It serves as a bridge for cultural exchange and economic diplomacy because success in doing business with China cannot be achieved merely through superficial market penetration but requires genuine cultural understanding and trust-building.

“The support from NIA is considered a vital stake in promoting national-level innovation development. It is an introduction to a new level of Thai-Chinese relations through the programme ‘The Dragon’, which is designed not only to emphasise networking but also to facilitate trade and investment experiences in China for Thai businessmen. It fosters deeper cultural understanding and relationship building, following China’s model that prioritises family ties and friendship over trade.”

For The Dragon programme, there are seasoned experts from both the public and private sectors with renowned experience in doing business with China, such as Mr Narongsak Phutthapornmongkol, Mr Phinij Jarusombat, and Mr Wichai Kinchong Choi, who will impart knowledge and understanding of the economic and cultural landscape of China in various business contexts. There are also speakers from NIA who will discuss cross-border innovation and the fundamentals of IBE innovation-based business concepts, enabling trainees to apply them in developing innovative businesses with Chinese counterparts. Additionally, there is a study visit to renowned companies in Chengdu and Shenzhen, People’s Republic of China. Interested individuals can apply from today until 9 June 2024. For more information and registration, visit www.dragondialogue.space or contact Ms Sirinuch (Pop) at 086-397-3158 or email info@dragondialogue.space.

The post “One Month to Go” Inaugural CIOSH THAILAND 2024 set to transform the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) marketplace in Southeast Asia with a one-stop sourcing platform appeared first on ThaiResidents.com - Thai Local News - Thai News.

Messe Düsseldorf Asia, together with joint partners Messe Düsseldorf Shanghai and China Textile Commerce Association, has set the clock for the final countdown to Thailand’s first dedicated PPE trade exhibition – CIOSH THAILAND 2024.  The China International Occupational Safety & Health Goods Expo (CIOSH) will commence next month at BITEC, Bangkok, at Halls EH103-104, from June 5 to 7, 2024.

Building on the rich legacy of over 40 years established by CIOSH Shanghai, first established in 1966, CIOSH THAILAND aims to be a pivotal PPE sourcing platform for Thailand and neighboring countries. The 3-day exhibition will showcase over 3,000 innovative PPE products and safety equipment from some 300 leading international manufacturers from countries such as China, Germany, Spain, Singapore, and others. As part of the renowned A+A portfolio representing the premier global event for personal protection, occupational safety, and health at work, held in Germany and organised by Messe Düsseldorf GmbH, CIOSH THAILAND aims to raise workplace safety standards in Thailand.

With the well-established OS+H ASIA – Occupational Safety + Health Exhibition for Asia held in Singapore and organised by Messe Düsseldorf Asia, now into its 14th edition, this makes CIOSH THAILAND the second Southeast Asian destination for the A+A portfolio.

“We are delighted to expand our expertise and experience in the area of workplace safety solutions by introducing CIOSH THAILAND here in Bangkok, which will serve as a comprehensive procurement platform for industry professionals to source a wide range of PPE solutions to raise workplace safety,” said Gernot Ringling, Managing Director at Messe Düsseldorf Asia. He added, “The launch of CIOSH THAILAND is not just an expansion of our geographical footprint in the region; it is a strategic response to the increasing demand for innovative and high-quality safety products, equipment, and solutions in Thailand.”

Thailand was the location of choice in Southeast Asia in addition to Singapore, due to its strategic relevance and position as the manufacturing hub of the region. CIOSH THAILAND also comes at a pivotal time as the importance of workplace safety in Thailand continues to rise against the backdrop of rapid industrialisation driven by growth in key sectors such as construction, oil and gas, automotive, and healthcare – industries that are major drivers for the PPE market. According to latest industry reports, the region’s PPE market size was valued at US$4.43 billion in 2023 and is projected to reach US$8.12 billion in 6 years’ time.

Ringling emphasized, “As the industrial sectors in Southeast Asia continue to expand, the need for effective PPE and safety equipment will also increase. We are committed to providing a one-stop marketplace and enhancing the understanding and adoption of PPE and workplace safety standards in Thailand and the broader region.”

Commenting on safety standards in the industry, Aknit Samitapintu President of Procurement and Supply Chain Management Association of Thailand (PSCMT) said; “Many organisations view these safety devices as a cost. Therefore, buyers must have a thorough understanding of the total cost. Investing in equipment to prevent accidents is cost-effective because the potential damage from an accident can be very high. Procurers play both direct and indirect roles as we purchase these devices for practical use. We can establish safety conditions for contractors to meet and encourage our suppliers to adhere to safety standards and the use of personal protective equipment required by law. Furthermore, the selection of suitable and standardised equipment has already been made. This may foster various activities with suppliers, adding value to the relationships between procurement and suppliers.”

Echoing similar sentiments Surachet Singam, Vice President of the Building Inspectors Association (BSA) said building standards and safety are fundamental to the real estate and construction industry. “From the selection of materials and equipment to construction and maintenance plans, our focus is on ensuring the safety of building users and preventing future losses of life and property. These are essential standards mandated by the Building Control Act of 1979, which include criteria for the stability and strength of buildings, indoor service systems like fire protection, wastewater treatment, and elevator systems, as well as building safety management systems. For over two decades, the Association of Building Inspectors, comprising engineers and architects, has been dedicated to transferring knowledge and enhancing capabilities. We aim to elevate building safety standards across Thailand, where currently over 100 experts are actively engaged.”

Safety Consultation Clinic: A signature initiative by the Safety Engineering Association of Thailand, will offer complimentary safety consultation sessions throughout the 3-days. These sessions will cover various PPE categories, from risk assessment to Hazmat suits, ensuring that all industry attendees receive expert advice and recommendations tailored to their specific needs. Managed by seasoned consultants, attendees will be introduced to relevant exhibitors with quality international safety standards such as ISO, ANSI, BS, or EURONORM.

According to Channarong Waiyapoj, Secretary of the Safety Engineering Association of Thailand: “Previous personal protective equipment (PPE) was designed and developed using advanced technology and has passed quality inspections and standards. This PPE is comfortable to wear, providing confidence and safety from head to toe. However, limited access to this equipment has resulted in numerous fatalities among personnel, particularly in the construction and public health sectors. To address these concerns, we have launched the Safety Consultation Clinic at CIOSH THAILAND 2024. This initiative aims to enhance the security and preparedness of the industrial sector to meet future safety challenges, and to demonstrate the accurate, appropriate use of PPE in various situations.”

  • New Netflix Film ‘Mother of the Bride’ Spotlights Phuket as a Hub for Global Film Production

Thailand has established itself as the go-to destination for Hollywood and international filmmakers, leveraging its stunning locales to boost tourism

The post New Netflix Film ‘Mother of the Bride’ Spotlights Phuket as a Hub for Global Film Production appeared first on ThaiResidents.com - Thai Local News - Thai News.

Thailand has established itself as the go-to destination for Hollywood and international filmmakers, leveraging its stunning locales to boost tourism and support the local economy. Highlighting Thailand’s allure is the recent production of Mother of the Bride, an American romantic comedy directed by Mark Waters which was shot at Anantara Layan Phuket Resort and Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas, both operated by Minor Hotels.

In 2022, the Thai government took a bold step to waive personal income tax for foreign talent for five years, augmenting an already attractive film incentive system. Since then, the programme was further enhanced to offer foreign film productions a cash rebate of up to 20%, with Phuket emerging as a prime location for shooting overseas films. Tourism authorities, the government and local businesses are confident that this investment will pay dividends, anticipating a surge in visitor numbers and a significant uptick in spending, as international productions like Mother of the Bride, introduce Thailand to new audiences.

Set to premiere on Netflix on May 9th, just ahead of international Mother’s Day, Mother of the Bride starring Brooke Shields, Miranda Cosgrove and Benjamin Bratt, narrates the tale of Lana, whose daughter Emma’s return from overseas with news of her impending destination wedding in Thailand. This sets off a chain of comedic events—especially since Lana is set to marry her ex’s son.

William Heinecke, Founder and Chairman of Minor International, who makes a cameo in the film, shared his enthusiasm: “Thailand is skilfully tapping into the ‘set-jetting’ phenomenon, where tourists flock to locations featured in films and TV shows. Our goal is to showcase Thailand as a vibrant cinematic hub that enriches the local economy while offering tangible benefits to production teams in terms of cost and efficiency. When Thailand thrives, we all benefit.”

  • The Residences at Dusit Central Park brings architecture – feng shui synergism to ultra-luxury residences for harmonious living and well-being

Vimarn Suriya Company Limited, the developer of Dusit Central Park, today reflected on the pinnacle of living from feng shui

The post The Residences at Dusit Central Park brings architecture – feng shui synergism to ultra-luxury residences for harmonious living and well-being appeared first on ThaiResidents.com - Thai Local News - Thai News.

Vimarn Suriya Company Limited, the developer of Dusit Central Park, today reflected on the pinnacle of living from feng shui point of view at “The Harmonious Integration of Architecture & Feng Shui” event, unfolding how this ancient wisdom was fused into modern architecture to promote pleasant, and peaceful city living in The Residences at Dusit Central Park, the finest ultra luxury residential development in Bangkok’s super-core CBD as part of the world-class complete mixed-use development project, Dusit Central Park.

Khun La-ead Kovavisaruch, Chief Executive Officer of Vimarn Suriya Company Limited, the developer of Dusit Central Park, said, “Dusit Central Park is being created in Bangkok’s super-core central business district with a development concept of ‘Here for Bangkok’, ready to bring a historic landmark to Silom – Rama 4 neighborhood anew. It brings together four key elements of an unrivalled lifestyle: Dusit Thani Bangkok Hotel, The Residences at Dusit Central Park, Central Park Offices, and Central Park Retail. With all of them interconnected by a 11,200 sq.m. elevated lush green ‘Roof Park’, the complete mixed-use development will be Bangkok’s upscale lifestyle destination that appeals to local and international visitors, including leading business professionals from across the world, allowing them to indulge in one-of-a-kind modern metropolis lifestyle that Bangkok has to offer. In particular, The Residences at Dusit Central Park embodies an unmistakable sense of ‘Gracious Hospitality’ associated with Dusit Thani Bangkok as one of Thailand’s legendary hotels. This blends perfectly with world-class architecture and the practice of feng shui to promote harmonious living and well-being for all the residents based on their chosen styles of living. Dusit Residences provides a ‘Classic Luxury’ style of contemporary living on par with life in a majestic mansion, further enhanced with an extra touch of exquisite design details that are the world-renowned legacy of Dusit Thani Bangkok. Dusit Parkside, on the other hand, is stylishly characterized by ‘Lifestyle Luxury’ concept of living in favor of modern urban luxury lifestyles. The project’s architecture concept design is provided by Architects 49.”

Khun Somkiat Lo-Chindapong, Deputy Managing Director of Architects 49 Limited (A49), added, “With Dusit Central Park, a key challenge is to fuse the project’s world-class status with the identity that is a legacy of Dusit Thani Bangkok and take a multidimensional approach to feng shui integration. The positions and orientation of buildings on the site are slightly tilted and offset with each other to create a variety of unobstructed views from within each of them, and not to mention natural cross ventilation enhanced by this layout. Fins are used to optimize the amount of sunlight and external heat that would enter the buildings. Moreover, the residents and building occupants can enjoy beautiful perspective views from inside towards a large, elevated Roof Park that interlinks the buildings. This Roof Park visually blends with Lumpini Park, making it appear as if the expansive public park extends inwards the buildings. Another key identity that reflects contemporaries of the project is the use of auspicious ‘Three Kings’ tri-color comprising of gold, silver, and red gold. As for The Residences at Dusit Central Park, the building façade is oriented towards the northeast, providing a seamless panoramic view for unmatched visual pleasure. To meet discerning expectations of a truly privileged living, The Residences at Dusit Central Park is presented with two living concepts in one building with a focus on ‘upscale living experience in every aspect’. In addition to building orientation, this extends to well-designed elements and privileged reach to the very best business and lifestyle facilities in Silom – Rama 4 area. The layout design of each unit is aligned with feng shui principles from the start, based on a belief that ‘life forces are manageable through design’. Marrying the ancient know-how about wind and water with modern architecture, it ensures that every room in each unit enjoys a magnificent window view and embraces inflow of positive life forces from outside, be it living room, bedroom, kitchen, or bathroom. 6.6-meter double-volume ceiling height provides for taller, airier spaces and accommodates larger windows for better flow of positive wind-and-water energy from Lumpini Park into the rooms, as well as natural light from the sun that brighten and freshen up the spaces without excess heat.”

Feng shui master Pennueng Wongphudon commented, “Dusit Central Park, especially The Residences at Dusit Central Park, is situated on the country’s wealth location with eventful history through generations. Rama 4 Road and Silom Road are the main streets that drive the Thai economy. The development site is located at the start of what is regarded as a ‘Road of Dragon’ due to its multifaceted potentials, including domestic and international business and trades as well as multigenerational lifestyle establishments. The architectural design of this development is symbolically interpreted as a ‘Dragon Claw’ that is favorable for creativity, reception of positive life forces for pleasant living, and physical and mental well-being of the residents. With the project’s façade oriented towards Lumpini Park to the north and the east, the residents’ ability to receive positive life forces from nature is even more enhanced due to presence of water and trees that symbolize fertility and wealth, in addition to wind flow that promotes ventilation for fresh air. Moreover, a good residential environment must contain a lush green area with a thriving ecosystem. The 11,200 sq.m. ‘Roof Park’ houses numerous species of auspicious plants and features water circulation of a large waterfall, in which each step is intentionally calculated to end with an auspicious number. This strengthens the positive energy for prosperity and is regarded as a very favorable feng shui for harmonious and well-being living. Upon examining all the elements and the development project overall, both from architectural and feng shui points of view, the developer and its team did not leave anything overlooked and even put them together in a perfect harmony to make it an ideal place for living.”

The Residences at Dusit Central Park will make its presence at Central Embassy, Level 4, to arrange site visit for interested visitors in person from today onwards. For exclusive offers and site visit enquiries, please call 02-233-5889 or contact enquiry@dusitresidences.com.

  • Bangkok Cable signs with INNOPOWER Paving the Way for a Greener Future in Thailand’s Power Industry

In a landmark move that promises to revolutionize Thailand’s power distribution network, Bangkok Cable Co., Ltd. (BCC), Thailand’s leading manufacturer

The post Bangkok Cable signs with INNOPOWER Paving the Way for a Greener Future in Thailand’s Power Industry appeared first on ThaiResidents.com - Thai Local News - Thai News.

In a landmark move that promises to revolutionize Thailand’s power distribution network, Bangkok Cable Co., Ltd. (BCC), Thailand’s leading manufacturer of electric wires and cables, and INNOPOWER Co., Ltd., innovator in the energy sector, have announced a groundbreaking partnership. This collaboration is set to introduce cutting-edge technology into the country’s electrical grid, aiming to reduce costs and increase the efficiency of electric power distribution by up to 40%, enhance operational efficiency, and reduce safety risks for employees. The agreement, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), will see the two companies join forces to research and develop innovative solutions tailored to Thailand’s growing energy needs. The initiative comes at a crucial time as the nation experiences a continuous surge in electricity demand.

Mr. Pongsapak Nakornsri, Executive Director of Bangkok Cable Co., Ltd. (BCC), expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting its potential to foster innovation and reduce operational costs. “Our collaboration with INNOPOWER is the solid evidence to our commitment to sustainability and technological advancement. Together, we are setting a new standard for the power industry in Thailand,” he stated. The partnership will encompass research and development covering surveys, assessments, and feasibility studies to find ways to apply innovations in Thailand’s electric power transmission system, focusing on three key areas:

    1. ACCC conductor: Bangkok Cable’s product innovation of High Temperature Low Sag (HTLS) Conductors is a testament to their engineering expertise. Bangkok Cable will produce an Aluminum Conductor Composite Core (ACCC) conductor, a high-performance conductor that can carry double ampacity and have 25-30% higher efficiency. The ACCC reconductor is mainly applied to support demand growth and RE integration, due to execution costs and time saving. With a new line application, even though its cost is higher than the conventional one, the premium could be paid back through line loss savings, CO2 emission reduction, avoided grid reinvestment, etc. This technology significantly contributes to achieving Thailand’s goal of Carbon Neutrality by 2050 and Net Zero Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 2065.
    2. AI and UAV Integration: The collaboration will explore the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to enhance the maintenance renewable energy projects. Incorporating AI with drones aims to improve the accuracy of maintenance work, especially for wind turbines inspections towering over 80 meters.
    3. IoT System Development: The Internet of Things (IoT) will be harnessed to create a digital network that connects and monitors the electric power transformer system’s operation. This real-time monitoring is expected to swiftly identify malfunctions and facilitate immediate responses, ensuring a stable and reliable power supply.

Mr. Athip Tantivorawong, Chief Executive Officer of INNOPOWER Co., Ltd. highlighted a collaboration to develop innovative solutions for the power transmission network, aimed at reducing electrical losses within the grid.

Implementing these solutions not only enhances transmission efficiency but also optimizes cost management. Integrating AI and UAVs into maintenance processes will further reduce costs and improve network reliability, supporting the expansion of renewable energy sources like wind turbines.

Mr. Athip emphasized that these innovations support Thailand’s goal of achieving Carbon Neutrality by 2050 by strengthening grid stability for clean energy and addressing rising electricity demands.

The Collaboration between Bangkok Cable and Innopower marks a significant milestone in Thailand’s energy sector, promising a brighter, greener future for the nation.

This year’s highlights focus on penetrating the Thai consumer base through the ‘Burger King Thai Series’ marketing strategy, introducing the new campaign ‘Thai Palates Deserve Authentic Thai Flavours,’ which emphasises menu options that resonate with Thai palates. This includes the introduction of the ‘Mookrata Burger,’ a new burger menu developed from insights into the preferences of Thai consumers, particularly those who enjoy grilled dishes. indicating significant interest and alignment with the target demographic that the brand aims to reach: young consumers seeking novelty. In addition to aligning menu offerings with consumer trends, Burger King’s development of new menu items, such as the ‘Mookrata Burger,’ represents an extension of this strategy. The highlight of this new menu item is the large piece of grilled pork, cooked on a fire grill, which is a signature feature of Burger King or can be optionally replaced with beef. It comes with a special sauce recipe that provides the sensation of enjoying ‘Mookrata’ directly from the grill in a fusion-style atmosphere. Customers can choose between two options: the Single Mookrata Burger priced at 89 baht and the Double Mookrata Burger priced at 149 baht, catering specifically to young adults and working-age groups. For Burger King’s Thai Series strategy, there has been a continuous presentation of menu options tailored to Thai tastes. Whether it’s the congee menu, Hat Yai Chicken King, or sweet treats like Kanom Krok Pie, this time, in addition to introducing new Burger menu items, there has been an extension of the popular menu, especially the ‘Hat Yai Chicken King with Super-Extra Crispy Shallots.’ Since its launch at the end of last year, it has continued to receive positive responses. In this series, the enjoyment is further enhanced by increasing the portion size of fried shallot by up to three times at a price of 149 baht, alongside marketing activities aimed at raising awareness among a wide target audience, through various media during the recent Songkran festival. These include the launch of Songkran shirts featuring the Hat Yai Fried Chicken arranged in floral patterns, creating tent cards for local restaurants that closed during the Songkran festival, the introduction of a ‘Kook Kook’ Hat Yai Fried Chicken Truck to generate awareness and stimulate interest from local target consumers extensively. Additionally, discounts on the Hat Yai Chicken King menu were offered to travellers on both domestic and international flights during the recent extended holiday period.

“From the campaign ‘Thai Palates Deserve Authentic Thai Flavours, Burger King has now increased its consumer base by 10%, order volume increased by 20%. This campaign will be another campaign to help further expand the consumer base even more. With a target to close 2024, we aim to expand the Thai consumer base by 25%. Meanwhile, Burger King never stops brainstorming new marketing campaigns throughout the year, including developing and innovating seasonal menus and services. All of this reflects Burger King’s image as a leading fast-food market leader in Thailand and the trendsetter in online viral marketing worldwide, understanding the true needs of consumers, both Thai and international,” Charoenchai and Chanin concluded.

  • Singha Estate steps into its 3rd year of “Pleuk Pa Duay Plai New”

A leading conglomerate in real estate investment and development, operating both in Thailand and globally, is proactively driving sustainability efforts under the ethos of “Go Beyond Dreams”. This philosophy aims to solidify the foundation for reaching the carbon neutrality goal by 2030 through the “Pleuk Pa Duay Plai New” project or Million Trees for Tomorrow: Expanding Green Conservation by Singha Estate Group – now in its third year since its inception in 2022, to plant one million square meters of forest by 2025.

The “Million Trees for Tomorrow” project embodies the ethos of “Go Beyond Dreams” in the strategic approach of “Go Exceed, Go Exist,” targeting to foster sustainable growth through balance across all dimensions: community, society, and environment. The project’s objective is to expand green areas as carbon sinks at a 1:1 ratio. To elaborate, Singha Estate is committed to nurturing one square meter of forest for every square meter developed. Covering a total area of 634 rai, the project has already planted 6,200 trees over the past two years, marking progress of over 20%. This year, Singha Estate has prepared indigenous plant species, including Yellow Star trees, to further enhance green spaces and aid carbon sequestration efforts to address the root causes of the greenhouse effect.

Mrs. Thitima Rungkwansiriroj, Chief Executive Officer of Singha Estate Public Company Limited (SET: S), stated: “This year, the Million Trees for Tomorrow project has entered its third year. Our goal is to reach one million square meters of forest by 2025 with a long-term target set at 10 years. This commitment stems from the company’s steadfast dedication to prepare for climate change through proactive work, production process adjustments, and strategies to ensure sustainable operations and development in all aspects. Over the past years, we started raising awareness regarding environmental issues. With this project, we aim to cover three areas – Thailand’s Northern, Central, and Southern regions, including 1) Watershed Forest at Singha Park Chiang Rai, due to its naturally abundant terrain that helps expand green areas and restore the forest; 2) Urban Forest in Bangkok, to create green spaces through various Singha Estate projects, such as a public park in front of S-OASIS and Singha Complex, maintenance of existing large trees of all projects, etc.; 3) Mangrove Forest on Phi Phi Island, Krabi, including an overseas project – CROSSROADS Maldives. We are determined to conserve large marine areas with high biodiversity covering up to 3 million square meters in total. All of these endeavors are geared towards achieving carbon neutrality and becoming a Carbon-Neutral Organization by 2030 as per the set goal. We believe that initiating these projects reflects our ‘Go Beyond Dreams’ mission excellently.”

The “Million Trees for Tomorrow” project is a vital component of our sustainable development strategy, expanding carbon absorption areas and carbon storage facilities by one million square meters through the “Go Exceed, Go Exist” strategy, which encompasses three main pillars.

    1. Climate Resilience Model Setting targets for GHG emissions in alignment with Thailand’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), aiming for a 40% reduction to achieve carbon neutrality.
    2. Nature-Based Solutions Focusing on biodiversity conservation, encompassing both terrestrial and marine ecosystems, adhering to IUCN Green List Standards. These solutions aim to prevent, mitigate, restore, and compensate for environmental impacts on biodiversity.
    3. Enriching Society Serving as a central hub for cultivating quality communities through more than 30 projects, impacting over 1,000,000 individuals across operations, spanning 5 countries and diverse business sectors.

Mr. Chawarn Khongsup, General Manager, Singha Park Chiangrai Co., Ltd., stated: “On behalf of Singha Park Chiang Rai, I am immensely pleased to collaborate with Singha Estate on the Million Trees for Tomorrow Project. Our joint efforts in planting and nurturing green spaces in this area have yielded remarkable results, from the initial planting phase to the project’s third year. We’ve witnessed tangible changes, particularly in the expansion of watershed forests in the Northern region. Singha Park Chiang Rai’s location, adjacent to natural watershed forests teeming with biodiversity, makes it an ideal site for watershed forest restoration. It’s truly an honor to contribute to the creation of a healthier environment, not only within Chiang Rai Province but also in the restoration of nature and the promotion of environmental well-being for all.”

Singha Estate aims the Million Trees for Tomorrow to actively absorb carbon dioxide emissions and recognizes reforestation as akin to nurturing the lifeline of ecosystems. Thriving watershed forests lead to enhanced biodiversity and environmental enrichment. This project operates year-round, involving local communities in both planting and managing forests. This not only fosters social capital and economic value within communities but also environmental stewardship and biodiversity. Moreover, it contributes to cleaner air and helps mitigate global warming. These efforts are in perfect alignment with the vision of Entrusted and Value Enricher, dedicated to creating sustainable value and enduring growth.
